Business Meeting
Call to Order: Meeting called to order by Richard Watts, President,
at 1912.
Attendance: Richard Watts, Gwen Welker, Sue Johnson, Jan Giblin, Mary
E. Shmidt, Bev Clark, Jeri Babb, Stephanie Herbold and Diane Cassady.
Approval of Minutes from Previous Meeting: Jeri Babb moved to approve
the minutes, seconded by Stephanie Herbold.
Treasurer’s Report: A balance of $1,254.10 in the checking account
was reported by Diane Cassady.
Old Business:
- Richard Watts thanked Jeri Babb, Bev Clark and Joni Thornton for their
hard work to make the Central Iowa ENA Conference possible.
- Richard Watts also thanked Linda Chrismore for making the bulletin board
that represented the Central Iowa Chapter of ENA at the Central Iowa ENA
Conference.
- Richard Watts reported that Maureen Bamrick from Mercy Medical Center in
Mason City won the $50 gift certificate to the ENA Marketplace; and Marilou
Houk from Pella Regional Health Center won the one year membership to ENA.
These items were won in a raffle sponsored by the Central Iowa Chapter of
ENA at the Central Iowa ENA Conference.
- Richard Watts reported that all articles for the State ENA Website must
be submitted by June 9, 2004.
- Richard Watts reminded members that the Central Iowa ENA Meeting dates
have been changed to the following
* September 7, 2004--- Skiff Medical
Center, Newton
* November 2, 2004--- Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames
New
Business:
- Richard Watts reported that he will be sending a letter to all of the
Emergency Departments in Central Iowa offering a continuing education
program. Richard Watts will present a program entitled "Interpreting Lab
Values" which will be worth one hour of continuing education, sponsored by
Mary Greeley Medical Center. This will also give Richard an opportunity to
present the benefits of joining a professional organization, such as the
ENA. If anyone is interested in this continuing education opportunity,
please contact Richard Watts.
- Stephanie Herbold suggested holding the Central Iowa ENA meetings at
restaurants as a way to encourage attendance to the meetings.
- Richard Watts reported that NewsBytes is now available on the ENA
website. NewsBytes provides the most up-to-date information about emergency
nursing in the United States.
Motion to Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned by Richard Watts at
1928.
